How to add widgets to the Mac menu bar

In Kakuchi, right-click a widget and choose Add to Menu Bar. It gets its own item in the menu bar; click it and the full widget drops down.

Add one

  1. 1Add the widget to your desktop from the Widget Gallery.
  2. 2Right-click it and choose Add to Menu Bar.
  3. 3A new item with the widget's name appears in the menu bar. Click it to open the widget below.
  4. 4Hold Command and drag the item to move it along the menu bar. It keeps its place.

What works well up there

Anything you glance at often but don't want on the desktop all day: a timer, the weather, a system monitor, a to-do list, a calculator, a unit converter.

Remove it

Right-click its menu bar item and choose Remove from Menu Bar, or right-click the desktop widget and choose Remove from Menu Bar.

Questions

Does every widget work in the menu bar?
Yes. Any widget can have a menu bar item, and you can add as many as fit.
