Add the widget
- 1Open the Widget Gallery from Kakuchi's menu bar icon and find Lyrics under Mac.
- 2Click Add to Desktop, then play a song in Music, Spotify or a browser tab.
- 3The words appear in time with the song. Previous, play/pause and next sit underneath.
Make it yours
Right-click the widget and choose Edit Widget. Text size makes the words bigger or smaller. Show the song and controls hides the track row for words only.
Turn off Show the card and the words sit right on your wallpaper, the way the iPhone lock screen shows them.
If a song's lyrics run a little early or late, Timing shifts them by up to three seconds.
Put it on the lock screen
- 1Right-click the widget and choose Show on Lock Screen.
- 2Lock your Mac (Control-Command-Q). The words keep scrolling while the music plays.
Questions
- Where do the lyrics come from?
- From LRCLIB, a free, open lyrics database. Kakuchi looks up the song you're playing by its title, artist and length.
- Why does a song show no lyrics?
- Not every song has time-synced lyrics in the database yet. When only plain lyrics exist, the widget shows those without timing.
- Does it work with Spotify?
- Yes. It follows whatever your Mac says is playing: Apple Music, Spotify, and music or videos in your browser.
